Public schools across the country have taken a look at their physical security systems in a multitude of ways. Many schools including Peru have started to limit access to their buildings by locking all unmonitored doors and requiring all visitors to check in at the main offices. Visitors are now issued district identification that they are required to wear while they are on campus. We have installed surveillance cameras in the hallways, gymnasiums, cafeteria, parking lots and on each of the school buses. We’ve hired security guards in the evening to allow community members in the school, whereas in the past, after school it was near impossible to get into the school once the office staff left for the day. We want our buildings open to our community, but with some order and safe practices. See More Topics covered: – Liaison with Law Enforcement and First Responders – Cyber-Safety – Social Media Scanning – Integration with Emails – ShareIt – School Safety with Enhanced Drills Peru CSD Capital Project 2021 There are three “pillars” to the proposed district-wide capital project: the restoration of exterior essentials such as roofs, pavement, and playgrounds; the renovation of obsolete or outdated infrastructure such as heating & cooling systems, communication systems, plumbing fixtures, windows and lighting; and the rejuvenation of existing space such as the K-2 House kitchen, 3-5 House Library, 3-5 House Art Room, and select High School Science and Art Rooms. A highlight of the proposed project will be the conversion of an existing gym space into a two-level fitness center overlooking the Middle School gym. This fitness center will include space for weight lifting equipment, cardiovascular fitness equipment, and a wrestling/fitness studio. The intent is to permit public access to this facility in an eff ort to promote wellness and fitness within the community.
